Joette Schalla

Joette has been a Colorado Ranch Broker since 2004, specializing in working ranches, mountain properties, and legacy land across the state. Since joining Fay Ranches in 2022, she has continued to offer clients the benefit of her deep expertise in land transactions and firsthand ranching experience. She holds the prestigious Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation through the Realtors Land Institute (RLI). Recognized in 2025, Joette was awarded Land Broker of the Year for the Colorado RLI chapter. She was elected Governor-at-Large in 2024, taking on a state leadership role and advocating for high standards within the land brokerage industry.

Joette was raised on a cattle ranch in eastern Colorado, where horsemanship, land stewardship, and work ethic were part of daily life. From a young age, she was actively involved in 4-H and competitive riding, with extensive experience in both English and Western disciplines. Her well-rounded background in equestrian competition laid the foundation for a lifelong connection to horses, cattle, and rural land.

Today, Joette runs a commercial cow/calf operation, calving in the spring and marketing calves in the fall. Her deep understanding of ranch operations, livestock management, and land productivity provides clients with rare, boots-on-the-ground insight into the realities of rural property ownership. She continues to compete in ranch rodeos, earning accolades like Top Horse and Top Hand, and contributing to her team’s 2020 Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association World Championship.

When she’s not working on real estate deals, riding horses, or checking cattle, Joette enjoys traveling—especially if it involves deep-sea fishing, touring historic sites, or hiking in the mountains of Colorado. She spends as much time as she can with her partner, Toby, sharing a love for the land and enjoying the outdoor lifestyle they both value.

This turnkey farm and grow yard has consistently produced income and provided a cozy, well-located place to raise a family. The Arkansas River Valley in southern Colorado is an agricultural hub. With two productive livestock auctions in La Junta, and diverse farms throughout the region, it is easy to find commodities to operate the grow-yard, and the nearby cattle markets make it efficient to buy or sell cattle or connect with producers who need cattle fed.
