Macy Ledbetter

As one of the state’s leading and most respected wildlife biologists, as well as being an avid outdoorsman, naturalist, ranch manager and fifth-generation landowner, Macy intimately understands land and wildlife management and pride of ownership. After earning a Wildlife Ecology degree from Texas A&M University in 1992, Macy worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in South Texas for ten years. Demand from landowners in other regions of Texas led Macy to start his own private consulting business, Spring Creek Outdoors, LLC. Private landowner rights and sound wildlife management practices are very important issues to Macy, compelling him to become involved in the legislative process. When the Texas Legislature is in session, Macy can be found at the capitol testifying before legislative committees, visiting individual lawmakers, and serving as an information resource. He has also traveled to Washington, D.C. to lend support to these issues on the federal level. Macy is a co-author of 21st Century Landowner Guide: Texas Model, a guide for private property rights and responsibilities, and sound wildlife management practices tailored specifically for Texas. Macy is a graduate of the King Ranch Advanced Ranch Management program and is the recipient of several industry awards, including the Hunter Heritage Foundation 2013 Wildlife Industry Leadership & Development Award as Private Property Protector of the Year, and Texas Deer Association’s President’s Appreciation Award for 2011 and 2012. He is a very proud member of the advisory board for Combat Marine Outdoors, an organization that provides hunting opportunities for wounded warriors.
