I grew up in this rural area surrounded by rolling hills, farms, small ranches & horses. As kids we rode horses, bikes, and caught crawdads under the local bridge. We walked / hiked to our friends homes and never thought much about it. The community & schools had activities and events for everyone all year round. They say you return to your roots as you get older and while Bonita has long since changed. Pagosa is as close to my roots as it is going to be. That is what attracted us and we love it here! I attended San Diego State University majoring in economics & business administration. I pursued a career in the California banking system and worked for two major national banks in Operations at the Assistant Vice-President level. The banks moved us from Southern California to the Sacramento area and ultimately to the mountain towns of Grass Valley/ Nevada City. After leaving the banking industry, we moved to Arizona and to the small Town of Crown King (Pop. 100). This area presented the opportunity with my banking background to become the on-site controller for an underground gold mining company. This remote location in the mountains gave me a whole different perspective on sense of community & life in general. We arrived in Pagosa by accident like most everyone. We traveled through a couple of years ago on vacation and came back three weeks later and bought a little piece of Paradise. We are currently building a log home and look forward to completion this spring. My husband Tom owned a camera store and photography gallery for several years after he retired and with his picture taking skills as his passion has discovered this area is a photographers dream! As a side note, after Tom’s proposal of marriage to me, we traveled to Canyon de Chelly and while enroute stopped to take pictures on an old buck-board 20 miles south of town. So we feel this special place is meant to be. We have two sons. Our oldest is a custom pool builder in Arizona and our youngest lives in Kentucky and is married. Our 5-year-old granddaughter Hailey is their only child. He is a Captain as an Air Medical Helicopter Pilot. Our girls Becky & Anna are our beloved Dobermans with floppy ears. We love adventure & travel most recently white water rafting down the Colorado River and a 3-œ week long safari to Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia. We ski, entertain, hike, camp and take pictures.
