Have it all in Western Colorado on the Ranch Serrano with its charm, mountain views, luxury living, peaceful setting, and private location. Location: Ranch Serrano is located between the two mountain towns of Montrose and Ridgway. Even with a Montrose address the ranch is actual located closer to Ridgway and even falls within the Ridgway School District. Just south of Ridgway about 16 miles is another iconic mountain town called Ouray. The remote ski resort town of Telluride is just an hour from the front door of Ranch Serrano. While there is plenty to do between these mountain towns most locals will do their shopping in Montrose and utilize its regional airport for travel. Local: Ridgway, Colorado is a stunning little mountain town located in the valley at base of the San Juan Mountains. Those that call Ridgway home are very outdoors minded and spend their days in the mountains as often as they can. They also love to eat. Ridgway is a “foodie” town with great little ‘hole-in-the-wall’ places to grab some really good local food. Ridgway was founded in 1890, and has a rich history in silver and gold mines, ranches and farms. One of my favorite things to do in town is the Farmers Market. Always full of great local venders with some of the best produce, breads and home-made lemon pound cake! At the center of it all is the charming downtown with its arts, entertainment, wellness activities, and a vibrant "foodie" culture. Climate: Ranch Serrano is located on a mesa called Loghill that sits about Ridgway. It receives about 16 inches of rain, on average, per year. This area also averages 75 inches of snow per year. Telluride that is an hour south of the ranch will receive an average of 167 inches of snow per year. The ranch will have roughly 300 days of Colorado sunshine! In Colorado this is considered a very mild climate. July highs are about 83 degrees and makes for a very pleasant summer. Fall weather is simply perfect for jeans and a light jacket. Ranch Serrano sits right at 7,500ft in elevation. Recreation: While summer in the mountains is just the best, most activities are also offered throughout the fall, winter and spring. Because of the awesome climate the Ridgway area has world-class biking, hiking, fishing and other outdoor recreation options all year round. In the summer there is always something going on between Ridgway, Ouray, and Telluride. Outdoor activities abound in Ridgway from rafting, paddle boarding, fly fishing, boating, golfing, mountain biking, ATVs & Jeeps, hiking, rock climbing, ice climbing, camping, hunting, and exploring the best Colorado has to offer. Our favorite activity is taking our puppy to the lake and the Jeep on miles trails in the area. Hunting: Ranch Serrano is located in Game Management Unit(GMU) 62 and is surrounded by 3 other large GMUs. GMU 62 draws a great deal of attention because it shares the Uncompahgre Plateau with Unit 61, which is famous for producing high success rates on big mule deer and elk. Though Unit 62 healthy numbers and tags can be purchased over the counter(OTC) for elk. The massive Uncompahgre Plateau(1,376 square miles) is a flat-top mountain range that ranges mostly between 8,300 and 9,200 feet above sea level and stretches about 90 miles from the northwest to the southeast. The Divide Road separates Unit 62 to the northeast and Unit 61 to the southwest. The plateau drops into huge canyons, some of them ruggedly steep and overlooking lowlands from 4,500-5,500 feet in elevation. Fishing: Blue Ribbon, High Country Gold Medal Waters! Ridgway is centrally-located within one hour of six major trout streams and rivers, and draws fisherman from all over the world. From secluded alpine lakes to streams full of stocked and native trout. The reservoir and catch-and-release waters in Ridgway State Park offer fishing opportunities for the whole family. Southern Colorado’s tailwater fishery below Ridgway Reservoir, at the Pa-Co-Chu-Puk, offers anglers an unparalleled fishing experience year-round holding some massive cutthroat trout! Stocked rainbow & native brown trout make up the game fish within the reservoir in the Ridgway State Park. Brook and rainbow trout can also be found in some tributaries of the Uncompahgre River with some access to Dallas Creek, Canyon Creek or Upper Cow Creek. Fishing in surrounding alpine lakes may be the preferred for those willing to hike a few-mile hike to some magnificent alpine lakes.
